Kicking off the new week, we go into the 7th installment of the infamous, interpol & nas-observed „Bunga Bunga“ mixtape. Special guest this time around is Miami’s own DJ A-TRAIN alongside the native Bungarians DJ Maxxx, DJ Sweap & DJ Pfund 500, DJ Cutxact and me. This is the Summer Edition 2014 and we’re more bungalous than ever!!!
As we go into Part 4 of the #YearOfTheMixtape campaign, I teamed up with my man DJ Dens to put together a mix of some of our favorite original soul records and rare grooves that have been used to create some of the biggest hip hop songs of all times. While Dens digs a little deeper and goes more into the classic samples (2nd half), I focused on some of the most recent music that you all know and love. Find out about what original songs inspired the producers for artists like Drake, Kanye West, Jay Z, Rick Ross and many others.
I just had to do it. After you guys made „Early Morning Love 2“ my most successful mix on Mixcloud, I knew I had to do a third part sometime during the „Year Of The Mixtape“ campaign. Now with spring time around the corner, what’s better than a few brand new, mellow and soulful songs to vibe to. Once again I tried to sprinkle a handful of amazing new talent in between the superstar names, so you’ll get your dose of John Legend, Chris Brown, Rick Ross and Drake but also some SoMo, The Flavr Blue, Kesington Kross and Mack Wilds. Spread the word. Early Morning Love is back.
It’s been years since I first saw Aloe Blacc rock on Central Park SummerStage, but I’ve been respecting this man, his music and his incredible voice ever since. When he blessed Avicii with his amazing vocals for „Wake Me Up“ I just wished there was an r&b or at least more soulful version of it. And that’s exactly why I did this. Not so much production work here, thefore I call it „Edit“ instead of „Remix“. But who cares, I guess. Enjoy!
I know you rarely hear me do anything with EDM and house music but I’ve been loving Hailey Williams‘ vocals on this Zedd super smash ever since I first heard it and have been wondering what to do with it in order to bring the „Stay The Night“ record a little more into my own musical world. Then I came across this huge house classic „At Night“ by Shakedown, which happens to be one of my very personal house favorites of all times. Hence – I chopped, edited, flipped, turned, let it cool down and here you go. Spread the word if you like it.
I promised Part 2 is going to be special. And i hope you agree. Over the years I did so many mixtapes with so many topics and styles but there was one thing I never dared to touch. And that is rock music. Therefore „RockSolid“ is all about rock. Not just any rock songs or some of the greatest hits of all times, but most of my very personal favorites from the 90s, an era when so much amazing rock music came out that it was inevitable to be influenced by Pearl Jam, the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Nirvana, an era when MTV was still so big and you would watch „Yo! MTV Raps“, fall asleep and wake up to „Headbanger’s Ball“ and some obscure GWAR video. Anyway, you get the idea. This is a mix of my personal rock classics from the 90s and I hope you love these songs as much as I do. Do me a favor and share this mix if you like it. Sharing is caring.

„The New West“ is all about new artists and new music from California, from Los Angeles all the way up to the Bay Area. Dedicated to the highly creative and very successful new movement of Cali based artists, you’ll find some of your favorite stars like Tyga, YG, Chris Brown or Kendrick Lamar among amazing newcomers and incredible talents like Jhene Aiko, Iamsu, Problem or Elijah Blake – all of them repping the Golden State to the fullest. My man DJ Skee from L.A. hosted this mixtape and shared a few stories here and there and I’m proud to say that his contribution made this mixtape kinda „officially approved“.
„The New West“ is also the kick off to my „Year Of The Mixtape“. There’s a brand new mixtape dropping every single month, so stay tuned and feel free to share and recommend this mix if you like it. #DJKitsune #DJSkee #TheNewWest #YearOfTheMixtape
