Shout to my man Teesy for sending this over. Luke Christopher is a new artist out of Los Angeles that just put out his first(?) mixtape called “Building Skies”. He raps and sings at a more than decent level and while I think this is far from perfect yet, you can see the incredible potential here which doesn’t only include lyricism and a vision of creating something greater than your average rap song but also a strong singing voice, performance abilities and more. Get the mixtape here and watch the kid evolve. He’s 18, imagine what he could sound like 2 years from now. Download the mixtape here.
I mentioned it a while ago – 2012 marks the return of r&b music. Not only are there a lot of artists that rather make urban music than to hop on the euro-dance bandwagon, but there’s so much new talent and great new voices out there that it reminds me of the rap renaissance we all witnessed 3 years ago. Fresh Air in its purest meaning. Kayla Brianna is a new artist signed to Interscope Records and his very first video already sounds promising. “If You Love Me” is a nice mixture of classic hip hop grooves with a 2012 sound and a very familiar hook taken from the 1994 Brownstone smash hit “If You Love Me”. Follow Kayla Brianna on Twitter as well!
Shout to the homie Michael “Juice” Thompson, he put me onto his boy Jahzel. Jahzel is a new artist from Chicago that just dropped a mixtape called “First Class” which you can get here. I listened to it a while ago and thought it was cool but now with the new video he did for “Classic Night”, this was definitely worth a post. I love the beat (courtesy of Chase N Cash) and Jahzel does is thing on here as well. A new artist to watch! The Chi is on the rise.
I had my iPod on shuffle the other day (god knows why) and all of a sudden this song came on and had me rapping along to it. Then I suddenly stopped and said: “Hold up, what song is this???” because I was wondering why I knew the lyrics but couldn’t remember the name of the artist. Well, it was this song right here by a new artist called Sunni Colón from Cali. He also shot a video to the very dope song “Lost Tribe” and I think he has a lot of potential to leave some footprints in the history books of this music. Follow the kid, I think he’s very capable of putting out more great music.
Thanks to the amazing Kendra Ross, she sent this one over. Sophie Delila is a french-born, London based singer/songwriter that studied music at Berklee (Boston) and has already put out two albums through Universal Music France. This is her latest single in a special, acoustic version that I really dig.
So, yeah, he is Marsha’s brother. But that’s absolutely not the reason I’m posting this. I want you guys to download this mixtape ’cause it’s fire. I want you to download it because Marvin is a incredibly gifted singer and songwriter that needs to be heard around the world. I want you to download this thing because Valentine’s Day is coming up and you could very well use this. I want you to download this mixtape because you need to spread the word. I want you to download this because Marvin might be the biggest talent we have in Europe right now. Because the music is just THAT good. And because of 20 more reasons you will find out about when you listen to “A Taste Of Ambrosious”.
